Our Jubilee Celebrations!

We have had one busy extended bank holiday weekend! It has been really fun, despite me getting ill and having to go straight to bed when we got home on Monday, and not being quite right since.
Friday lunchtime we headed over to the local children’s centre for their jubilee picnic. It was held jointly with the primary school that shares the same site, so it was a large & noisy affair with music playing and lots of laughter. Georgie enjoyed sitting on the mats in the children’s centre area and watching the primary school kids running around having fun – and of course she loved eating her picnic!
On Saturday James’s Mother and her parents came to visit – Georgie obligingly cuddled, toddled about and played enough to entertain her visitors before going down for her nap right on schedule, giving us enough time for a bit of adult time for coffee and cake.
Sunday was spent at Ironbridge at the Blists Hill Victorian Town where we spent the day celebrating Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee! It was a lovely day despite the sopping wet weather. The decorations were great – I particularly loved the printed posters that were made by a graphic designer who is currently working in the printing press for work experience – and the staff were all really friendly and chatty. We enjoyed looking around the village and the jubilee celebrations weren’t ruined by the weather – just moved indoors into the massive ironworks. Georgie got to experience her first ever Punch & Judy show which was a big hit!
On Monday we headed over to Great Malvern to check out the arts & crafts fair and join in their street party. Despite a couple of showers the street was crowded with revellers, the stalls were interesting & the kids craft table was a stroke of pure genius! We had a nice few hours in the sunshine eating yummy food, listening to live music & browsing the both the craft stalls and the shops/stalls lining the street.
Tuesday was rather more relaxed with a lie in for me and old friends visiting in the afternoon, complete with a bit of The Big Bang Theory, some fish & chips and lots of nattering – all very chilled out and lovely after such a busy few days.
It was a great long weekend and I’m ready for a restful one this week to recover from it! I hope everyone had a great Jubilee weekend, whether you celebrated the Queen’s 60 year reign or not

We used to go to Iron Bridge as children, I'd forgotten all about it! Sounds like you had a great weekend x

It was great fun! James (my husband) and I both used to go as kids too and have such fond memories of it that we'd like to take our kids over a lot too
hopefully it will be a bit drier next time though!
