Review: It’s hard not to have pre-conceived notions about microwave meals when you are used to the typically mediocre standards of the meals usually found on the supermarket shelves. Even though the pictures of these meals looked inviting, I was still a little surprised to discover that they are actually really delicious.

We were sent two of each of the new ‘British Classics’ meals to try, so James and I both had the bangers one night and chicken hash another.

These are easily the most attractive microwave meals I’ve ever seen in their uncooked state!

Both dishes were really really yummy! I couldn’t believe how fresh and “home cooked” they both tasted. They were full of flavour, had great quality ingredients and only took minutes to prepare in the microwave. James really liked them both too – there were no scraps left on either of our plates!

The portion sizes are perfect for either a large lunch or a smaller dinner – we found that they were just right to eat after coming home from a day out, after having a decent lunch while we out & about. Once James starts his new job, I could easily see James picking up one of these on his way to work to have for lunch at the office, on days that he can’t be bothered to make a pack lunch!

Yum yum!

These would be perfect for breastfeeding mums on the go who need to make sure they have decent meals to keep up their milk supply – they are super easy to prepare, easy to eat one handed (and important consideration!) and the price point of £3.75 is reasonable enough to have one or two in the fridge on standby. I used to love having an easy but sustaining meal on hand that I could zap quickly while Georgie was whining after her next feed, and these would fit the bell perfectly.

James and I both think these should get a full 5 stars for being so tasty at such a reasonable price!
