Review: I ordered a medium landscape photo book from Albelli as a souvenir of the Diamond Jubilee weekend. First impressions were really good; the book was packed well and had a slip to say that it had been checked by a member of their quality control team before dispatch. The photos look really nice and the physical photo book seemed to match up well to what was on my screen when I designed it.
I used the new Jubilee backgrounds and clipart, along with some other borders and clipart that Albelli provide to add fun to my photo book. I tried to match my photo & text borders to the different backgrounds so that it all ties in together. I think the provided artwork really goes together very well and it fits in great with the photos I took over the weekend.
The book measures 20 x 15 cm and has a red linen cover which seems to be great quality and looks great. This is the second photo book I have ordered from Albelli, and I opted to pay extra to have a photo cover on my first one, which added a really nice touch and looks absolutely fantastic.
The book has 24 pages as standard, though you can pay for extra pages at 40p a pop, which isn’t too bad. You can even upgrade to a leather cover or to high gloss printing if you like. These options would be great for a homemade wedding album, to make it a little bit extra special.
I am really pleased with the quality of the paper, binding & printing – the whole photobook is really nice and will be a fantastic lasting reminder of the great weekend we had celebrating the Jubilee. It is lovely to think of Georgie being able to look through the book with us when she is old enough to understand, and for us to explain that she was there for the celebrations!
My main problem with using the Jubilee artwork was that the clipart is not yet available on their Mac software, so I had to borrow my husband’s Windows laptop in order to create my photo book using their Windows software instead. I actually prefer the Mac software, having used it previously, so it was annoying to have to use the more frustrating (though more feature-rich) Windows software just so that I could access the clipart. The good news is that they say that the clip art feature will be coming to the Mac soon!
You can use this handy dandy widget to see a preview of my photo book, complete with lots of photos from our five days of jubilee celebrations and the Abelli artwork.
Only 4 out of 5 stars this time because of my software issues – but as soon as the Mac software is updated it would be worth a good solid 5!
