Geeking Out: Georgie Cam!

There are a lot of Video Baby Monitors* out there and boy, are they expensive. As much as we would have loved to get one when Georgie was born, James & I opted for a standard audio only monitor instead.
Recently, the price of wireless webcams has dropped and so James has indulged his geeky side and bought a basic Tenvis one for Georgie’s room. As she has gotten older Georgie has spent more & more time playing in her cot in the mornings before asking to get up, and we’ve been curious to see what she’s up to during this time, after hearing all sorts of happy noises and gurgles coming over the baby monitor!
The fab thing about using a webcam like this instead of a standard baby monitor is that we can control & view the video feed on our phones, laptops and the iPad – even when one of us is out of the house we can still view it over the internet using a password protected web interface. James starts work in an actual office soon when he begins his new job, and he is excited to be able to have a peek at Georgie during his lunch break!
The camera James picked can tilt & pan to view any part of her room, and even has night vision so we can see her really clearly at night too, to check on her while she settles to sleep. There is something amazingly reassuring about being able to double-check she’s ok! We can also record video and take snapshots of the live stream which is great fun.
