After our original plans for this weekend fell through, we decided to check out the Norwich & Norfolk Terrier fun day instead. As regular readers will know, my mother-in-law breeds & shows the walking teddy bears that are Norwich Terriers, and we own one ourselves.. the much-loved and spoiled Homily.

The fun day is a yearly event held by the two Terrier clubs for doggy owners to attend in order to socialise, relax and have fun with novelty dog show classes. We decided to enter a few ourselves with Homily.. “the dog the judge wants to take home most”, “temptation alley” and the “junior fancy dress” competition.

She failed miserably (unsurprisingly due to her poor grooming!) to appeal to the judge enough to place in the ”dog the judge wants to take home most” competition, and we missed out on “temptation alley” as it was getting late in the day for Georgie, and the heavens opened so they were considering cancelling the last few classes anyway.

Enjoying the sun while it lasted!

It’s a shame we missed “temptation alley” out but we didn’t think we had a chance of winning in any case… the basic premise is they put out a line of treats and your dog is supposed to run straight to you, ignoring the tempting treats en route. If anyone has ever met Homily, you’ll know perfectly well that she is one of the greediest dogs alive… and so resisting temptation is sort of impossible for her. We just thought it would be funny to enter, to be honest.

However, I’m pleased to announce that Georgie and Homily came FIRST in the junior fancy dress competition.

Ok, so there were only two entries…

And the judge couldn’t make up his mind…

Georgie with her entry number safe in her basket!

So, with the encouragement of a delighted crowd, he decided to award both kids and their accompanying dogs joint first place instead!

Very pleased with her prize… Popping it into her basket for safe keeping!

But STILL. We got a ROSETTE. Georgie was very pleased with it, and played with it for ages once we’d removed the pin! Homily is also pleased, she got a goody bag full of treats! That’s what we all call a successful day out! :-)
