Mama Geek is written and maintained entirely by myself, Zoe Corkhill. I married my husband James in 2008. Our first child Georgiana Alice was born on May 1st 2011, and our second daughter Lydia Elizabeth on February 27th 2013. We live in Halesowen, UK, with our adorable Norwich Terrier Homily. Here is a little bit more about each of us…

Me (Zoe)

In my previous life B.G. (Before Georgie), I worked as an administrator for a billboard company, while also doing some self employed web design work part time. Nowadays I’m a “working stay at home Mum”, juggling my web design business, this blog & motherhood, and loving every minute!

I grew up in the Midlands, moved to Cornwall with my parents during my A levels, stayed there for University (Renewable Energy BSc at Camborne School of Mines) and then “ran away” back to the Midlands after I graduated. About a year after moving to Birmingham, I met James, moved in with him, got a dog, got married, then had Georgie – all in the space of four years!

I like: apple products, photography, reading, jigsaws, crafting, watching films & tv, puppies (who doesn’t love puppies?), chocolate, gaming & puzzles

I hate: moths, spaghetti bolognese, microsoft products, custard creams

James

I married James on December 12th, 2008 and he has been putting up with me since we got together in 2007. He currently works as a web developer for Co-operative Web, after studying Internet Computing at Aberystwyth University.

James is a born & bred Brummie, although for some reason lacks the local accent (thankfully!). His parents are both vets, and his Mum Ruth breeds Norwich Terriers, which basically means James grew up surrounded by small furry creatures. We frequently head over to his Mum’s house to dog sit and I take lots of photos – especially when there are new puppies!

He likes: gaming, apple products, all things geeky, watching tv & films, being a father & me!

He hates: olives

Georgie

Georgiana Alice was born on 1st May 2011, at 1:25pm – after a 60+ hour labour! She weighed 7lb 11oz at birth and has been steadily gaining weight every since. Georgie is generally a very well behaved & happy toddler, sleeping well and being a mischievous little monkey when awake!

Georgie is was exclusively breastfed until 6 months, and we followed the baby led weaning method since then – she loves food! She self-weaned onto cows milk at around 14 months.

She likes: soft toys, feeding the dog, her smart trike, being a big sister, animals, and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion.

She hates: waking up, teething, and getting out of the bath!

Lydia

Lydia Elizabeth was born on 27th Feb 2013 at 1:24pm, two days late just like her big sister! Lydia weighed 9lb 3oz at birth and is growing well. She sleeps through most nights and is exclusively breastfed.

If you’re wondering what the mark is on her forehead, Lydia has a strawberry birthmark which will probably continue to grow until she is one year old before fading away.

Homily

Homily is a pedigree Norwich Terrier. She is quite stupid, although has mastered a few tricks including Up, Roll Over & Lie Down. However, she makes up for her stupidity by being very cute and loyal.

She likes: sleeping, eating, more sleeping, more eating, walkies & cuddles.

She hates: being ABANDONED at home when we go out, us paying more attention to Georgie or Lydia than her, going out in the wind, rain or snow (or any other adverse weather conditions), and raw mushrooms.
