Disclosure: we were provided with free entry to the park & complimentary refreshments for the purpose of this post.
On Saturday Lydia turned three – and she got to spend the day at Thomas Land at Drayton Manor, what a fab birthday treat! We were invited to come along and review the popular family attraction, that’s perfect for Thomas & Friends fans for all ages.
Rather fantastically, we were able to enter the park an hour early, which gave us some time to go on lots of rides. It was great to have the park just to ourselves and the other bloggers there for a bit!
Thomas Land has a great selection of rides for all ages, with everything from a kiddie rollercoaster for adventurous kids (and one of the best ones we’ve come across) to slow & steady rides for little tots. There are rides that let you fly up into the air, and rides that spin you round & round. With over 15 rides for little ones, plus a fab soft play area, there really is something for everyone.
On Saturday, Rosie & Thomas were pulling the trains from Thomas Land to Spencer’s Outdoor Adventure Play & back again. The girls were really excited to watch both engines at work, and got excited every time they saw either train.
We spent the morning enjoying the different rides, and also checked out the VIP rooms in the Sodor Airport building, which were launched last year as part of the Thomas Land expansion.
The rooms are great, with murals depicting scenes from the series on the walls, comfy seating & interactive fun for the kids to explore. Each room has a door that opens out onto a balcony, with fantastic views of the whole park.
After some refreshments, we explored some more, and went on the Winston’s Whistle Stop Tours monorail ride, which the girls love as you get to look down and see everyone in the park. We had a mini spending spree in the shop, where we let Lydia choose herself a birthday treat, and then ate some fab pies for lunch.
A wander through the Zoo is always a highlight for a visit to Drayton Manor, and the girls loved looking at all the different animals, many of which were enjoying an afternoon snooze after their own lunches!
Once we reached the other side, the girls enjoyed a quick run around Spencer’s Outdoor Adventure Play which is a great adventure playground. We hitched a ride with Rosie back to Thomas Land, and headed home with two very tired little girls!
As we walked through the exit to the car park, Lydia looked up at me and said “I had a great day, Mummy” – what more could you want on your 3rd birthday?!
We are headed back to Thomas Land this weekend too, for the second Thomas & Friends weekend, and meeting up with my sister & her family for the day. The girls are already excited to go back to one of their favourite places, I don’t think they can get enough!
