We’ve been in our new house for just over a week now and things are slowly improving, bit by bit. Almost all of our furniture is in place, with just a few shelving units to put together, which I hope to do this evening. A new bed for the spare room and a wardrobe for us has been ordered and should be arriving early next month, and then it will just be a case of finding new homes for everything!
At the moment we are living among a sea of boxes and bags, although I am trying hard to get things unpacked. With a toddler and a baby to deal with I can’t get a lot done during the day, reserving my energies for nap time so I can frantically run about opening boxes and catching up with the dirty dishes and laundry.
I will be sharing photos of the girls’ room very soon – as a late participant in the Money Supermarket Room for Improvement challenge we have been having some fun picking out bits and pieces for their new bedroom. We have been making that room a priority for Georgie’s sake, wanting to have her own little space sorted as soon as we could. Lydia will be moving into the room in just a few short months *sob* so we’ve put her cot up straight away rather than having to find somewhere to store it in the meantime.
The rest of the house is getting sorted out slowly but surely. Once I’ve set up the shelving and desk in the spare room I will be able to get a lot of bulky things put away which will definitely help clear the mountain of boxes! I used masking tape to mark out where the new bed will go so that I can see how much space I have for our other furniture, so I will be able to get on with things. The corner where the bed is ending up is rather comically home to a huge pile of boxes so I’d better get moving sorting it out before the bed arrives next week.
I’ll give you a virtual tour of the house soon, I promise! As soon as it’s tidy… *
WARNING: This may never happen. Tidiness is just something I aspire to.
