Lydia’s unicorn birthday party

One Saturday, a few months ago now, Lydia, 9 of her friends, and her big sister Georgie descended on the All About Me party centre in South Birmingham, for a two hour unicorn extravaganza of a birthday party.

This was Lydia’s first birthday party not held at home, and she was really excited for it – she went to a friends’ pamper style party there back in December and loved it, and knew immediately that it was what she wanted to do for hers. She even sweet-talked us into having a few extra children on her invite list… and then a few more!

Only one of her friend’s couldn’t make it, and all of her besties were there. It was so easy. I am never having a full blown party at home for them again. All I had to do was the invitations, party bags and cake, and All About Me handled the rest. We just had to turn up a little early, and then the fun began as soon as we arrived, with the girls having fun in the disco area as everyone was turning up.

All About Me is a little girls’ super stereotypically girly paradise, with fabulous decorations, a large mural in one corner, a little salon area with stools in front of ornate mirrors, and a whole load of fun accessories for the kids to enjoy playing with.

When we arrived the tables were set up for crafting on one side of the room, which was the first activity the girls enjoyed. They had a great time decorating unicorn party hats, necklaces and tails, going mad with glitter, glue, feathers, and sparkly gems. Once they were all pretty much covered in glitter and had made a huge mess, and their creations were pronounced complete, the girls had some fun dancing & playing games in the disco area while the staff got their party food ready to go and started the great glitter cleanup.

Once all the cling film was taken off the food, the girls were invited to come and sit to enjoy an afternoon tea style meal, with squash from china teacups (so cute!) and dainty china plates to eat from, complete with tiered cake stands full of food in the middles of the tables. It was all very civilised and perfect for the group of little 5, 6 & 7 year old girls.

After the girls had eaten their fill, it was time to enjoy some fun activities, including cupcake decorating, having their nails painted, unicorn face painting, and getting super sparkly glitter tattoos! The party finished off with a few more party games, and singing happy birthday to the birthday girl.

It was fantastic how much the All About Me team packed into the two hour party, and it felt like great value for money, too. The girls all absolutely adored the party, and had the best time. Lydia thought it was amazing, and couldn’t stop talking about it for days. And best of all? James and I didn’t have to do any of the clean up, or preparations, other than the cakes & party bags – the latter of which you can purchase from them for an added fee.

Huge thanks to the All About Me team for a wonderful party, we definitely will be recommending them from now on for parties! As well as unicorn parties like Lydia’s, All About Me offer princess, LOL Surprise, and spa parties, and mother & daughters pamper sessions.
