Review: Almost all of my mobile devices are charged via two types of USB cable; Apple’s propriety lightning connection or the industry standard Micro USB connection, and it seems to be the same for most mobile devices on the market.
This 1.2 metre long cable has a standard USB 2.0 connector on one end, to be plugged into a power plug or computer, and on the other end is a Micro USB connector. This can be changed to a lightning cable using the included adapter. Both ends of the cable also come with protective covers for keeping them safe when you have the cable stashed in a bag.
I tend to keep two plugs beside my bed and for the last year or so I have swapped out a lightning cable for a Micro USB cable, depending on whether I needed to charge my kindle or iPad. Thanks to this cable, I can stop fiddling around under my bed and just add or remove the lightning adapter as needed in order to keep both of my devices charged. I keep the adapter tucked safely in my bedside drawer when I’m using the Micro USB charger, and the little bag the cable came in is resealable so you could use that to keep it safe when not in use too.
The length is nice as it allows me to read in bed with my kindle plugged in & charging up, without putting too much tension or strain on the cable.
The cable is flat which means that it doesn’t tangle up like a regular usb cable. It can be used for charging and also for data transfer – so in either mode it will do everything that a “normal” cable does. I’ve found it to be a really useful cable for popping in my bag along with my power pack so that I can give any of my devices a boost while out on long days out, if need be. It has no problem charging either my iPhone, iPad or kindle devices when they have their cases on.
The Micro USB connector is compatible with most Android phones and the Lightning adapter makes it suitable for iPhones and iPads made in the last two years. It’s a very versatile and well made cable and I would definitely recommend it to any gadget fans looking for a new cable.
This is the second Inateck product I own now, and I am very pleased with it – I use their kindle case too (seen above) and love that too. I give this cable 5 stars.
