Apologies for the site issues!

Just a quick post to say that I’m really sorry about the awful slowness and downtime my site has been experiencing lately.

We have been have a lot of problems with our web host which, as I use it for business as well as this blog, is really not acceptable. My client’s websites have been having the same issues and I am not happy with the situation! So, we’ve decided to move hosts and have begun the migration of my various websites already.

James and I have decided to switch to a cloud server instead, which (nerd alert!) means that we will be able to adjust exactly how many resources we have on the server, and just pay for what we use. We’ve been playing with it for about a week or so and my test site is up and running beautifully, so Mama Geek should work just fine over there, and hopefully we will have a smooth transition to the server when we move it next week. It’s a lot more technical for us than my previous host, as we have had to set up things like the MySQL server and control panel ourselves, but that also means we have much more control over things.

I have a giveaway for a family ticket to Blackpool Tower running at the moment, so we’re delaying the move of this site until that is finished. Other than comments being closed for a short while so we can move the database, hopefully there shouldn’t be too much disruption when we flip the switch! Apologies in advance if you notice any downtime or other issues when we move, and also for the continuing problems in the meantime.
