James, Georgie and myself went to a wonderful wedding at the weekend. Some close friends of ours were tying the knot in a lovely intimate ceremony, followed by a chilled out informal pub lunch reception and a big evening bash in a converted barn complete with a delicious hog roast (affectionally named the Pig of Happiness
*) and an excellent live band.
Unfortunately, several of the wedding guests have since come down with a horrible flu like bug, all three of us included! Georgie has thankfully got off lightly with a runny nose and slight cough as well as seemingly feeling a bit under the weather if her clingy cuddleness is anything to go by. A bit of calpol and frequent nose wiping and she seems to be back to her normal self most of the time!
I, meanwhile, have a terrible sore throat and chesty cough, along with the awful aches and pains in all my muscles that come hand in hand with the dreaded lurgy. This morning I had a dreadful headache that made me very sensitive to light, which left me hiding under the covers feeling very sorry for myself! James is feeling slightly better than me, but stayed home sick from work today as he is still quite bad, and feeling very exhausted and achy. We are a sorry lot! Hopefully all three of us are on the mend – I feel a bit better than I did this morning, although incredibly tired!
I am definitely going to be getting my bum down to the doctors surgery very soon to get my flu jab – I want to avoid another attack of the lurgy this winter if at all possible! Being ill when you’re pregnant is the pits; you can’t take any decongestants and paracetamol alone is a bit of a weak defence against all the aches and pains!
I will post more about the wedding later in the week, along with some rather adorable photos of Georgie, who charmed everyone present including the wedding car chauffeur! In the meantime, I’ll just keep trying to drink plenty of fluids and munching halls soothers.
