Review: Lydia is a big fan of cuddly toys, and so when the Sleep Tight All Night Puppy arrived she fell in love instantly. She loves the way he lights up when you cuddle him; and learned straight away that the green light means daytime while the red light means she should be in bed.
This puppy has a “sleep aid module” which slides inside, which has all the controls and so on. You can set it to be in daytime or nighttime mode.
In daytime mode, the puppy says fun phrases when you squeeze it. Lydia likes this but not as much as the nighttime features, so we tend not to bother flipping it over in the mornings. It doesn’t light up in daytime mode, instead just saying the phrase – Lydia was disappointed when she found this out and I think it’s why she doesn’t bother too much with the daytime mode.
In nighttime mode, you set a timer for the length of time you want your child to stay in bed, up to 12 hours in half hour increments. While it counts down to zero, the light is red, and then once the time runs out the light is green, so your child knows when they can get up – they just squeeze their puppy to find out! You can set it to play one of a series of soothing noises when it is squeezed, but Lydia prefers it to have no sound. There is a volume switch for high, low or mute.
At first glance the controls for this toy seem a little over complex but you do get used to them really quickly and it has easily become a part of the bedtime routine. James’s main complaint has been having to work out the number of hours until wake up time when he is tired and his brain won’t work! It would be a bit better if you could programme a clock with a regular bed time & wake up time instead of getting the unit out to set it every evening.
The control sleep aid unit slips easily into the puppy, which has a velcro flap to hold it in, and it can also be tied into place with ribbons for extra security.
This puppy is very soft and snuggly, and extremely cute! Lydia has had him in bed with her evening night since he arrived and we have had a fair bit of success with the red light keeping her in bed a little longer too.
4 stars for this snuggly sleep time puppy!
