Sarah & Duck (quack!) – the green hat

Home Chit Chat Sarah & Duck (quack!) – the green hat

“My Grandma can knit ANYTHING!” – this is what Georgie tells anyone who talks to her about any toys or clothes my Mum has knitted for the girls. She is very proud of her Grandma’s knitting skills and loves to show them off.

At the moment both Georgie and Lydia are huge fans of the Sarah & Duck series on cbeebies, so when I saw this knitting pattern on their website, I sent it to my Mum with a plea for her to work her magic with her knitting needles.

The pattern is for an adult hat, but Mum found the Ravelry listing for the hat and followed the guidelines there to make it for a child, by using DK yarn, smaller needles, and making it a little smaller.

Earlier this week, we got a parcel in the post, and inside were two Sarah hats!

Needless to say, they were a big hit.

Lydia, in particular, is very taken with her new Sarah hat. She wore it when we went out on Thursday, and has been randomly putting it on in the house since it arrived.

Last night she came down after her bath, and was running around in just a nappy and her Sarah hat, and asked for her Grandma. We rang her via FaceTime and Lydia bounced up and down shouting “Like it! Like it! Like it!” at the screen, with a huge grin on her face. It was absolutely hilarious!

  1. How lovely! As a keen Knitting-Nana for two little girlies I can see my next project on the horizon! When I’ve finished their current cardigans! 🙂

  2. Am in the US, and even the link where the pattern has been moved will not work unless you are in the UK. Any way someone could copy and paste it here? My grandson is DYING for one of those hats and been trying to find that pattern all over the place.

    thank you.
