Our Jubilee Plans

Home Chit Chat Our Jubilee Plans

We have got one busy weekend ahead of us, let me tell you! Our schedule for the weekend runs a little something like this:

  • Friday – Jubilee celebration picnic at our local children’s centre
  • Saturday – Being visited by James’s mum & her parents. We don’t get to see Georgie’s great grandparents very often so this will be great.
  • Sunday – Ironbridge Gorge Museum
  • Monday – Belle Vue Jubilee Street Party in Malvern
  • Tuesday – Collapse from exhaustion! We have nothing planned (yet!)

Ironbridge Gorge Museum

James and I both have fond memories of trips to the Blists Hill Victorian Town from our childhood, and have used our Tesco clubcard vouchers to purchase some annual passes to the Ironbridge Gorge Museum attractions, which include loads of different museums as well as the Victorian Town.

The fabulous thing about the celebrations being held at Blists Hill this weekend is that they are celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of their “much-loved Queen Victoria with great style, pomp and pageantry” which should be a nice change from the Elizabeth II overload! There are all sorts of different festivities on offer, including a traditional Punch & Judy show, Penny Farthing displays and a concert.

They are decorating the village with traditional bunting and all the shops will still be open and going about their daily business… meaning I can visit that old-fashioned Victorian sweet shop I remember fondly from my childhood visits!

Belle Vue Jubilee Street Party in Malvern

On Bank Holiday Monday we are heading off to Malvern to go to the street party the shop owners are holding in the main street of the town. It is a gorgeous town and we have been meaning to visit it for ages, so this seemed like the perfect excuse!

This is the first time that Belle Vue Terrace has ever been closed, and they are planning all sorts of entertainment ranging from afternoon tea and a mini farmers market to jump jive lessons and a bbq. There is also going to be an arts & crafts market and picnic in Malvern as well as the street party, so it should be a good day out!

Are you doing anything for the jubilee weekend?

  1. Hi mama geek
I'd love to know what you thought of the jubilee do in great malvern. I'm one of the organisers, and we hope to bring Malvern much more of this sort of thing. If you had a moment to tell me how you heard about the party, where you came from and give us some feedback, we would really appreciate it. My email is anna@iapetus.co.uk
I hope you had a lovely time, and have now recovered from the jubilee exhaustion!
