Rating: (5/5 stars) Review: Georgie and Lydia both love to draw, colour, and craft – our living room is always littered with drawings and other creations. When these products arrived for review, they couldn’t wait to get started! In each ColourMazing set you get a number of ‘magic ink pens’ and some specially made pictures to colour in – some of them, in the case of the larger sets, can then be turned into puppets, mobiles, or other craft projects. You also get an instruction sheet with nice & clear directions on how to use the ink pens and put together the craft activities. The ink pens have a squeezable barrels and a push in nib, so that when you press it down onto the picture and squeeze gently, the ink flows out of the pen and spreads out. The pictures themselves are made of a blotter style cardboard, which absorbs the ink. The way these sets work is very clever – the ‘lines’ on the pictures are in fact gaps in the card, so that the ink stops when it reaches the gap and stays inside the lines! This works really well unless you put ink down and over saturate it right next to the gaps. The instructions do warn you against this, so if you follow the directions you won’t have any issues with that. The colours provided are bright and cheerful, and you can even lay down one colour on top of another to mix them, so you aren’t limited to the colours included in the box. You can even blend the colours so that one area of your picture goes from one colour to another in a gradient. Georgie and Lydia have both really enjoyed these sets, and have been making all sorts of colourful creations with them. They can be a bit heavy handed at times which results in too much ink going down, but other than that they’ve done really well with them and had a great time with them each time. I think these sets are pretty good value for money, and you get quite a few different projects in the crafty sets. We give them 5 stars, and I’ve got my eye on the Fairy Tale set for Lydia’s Christmas list!
