Rating:

Review: Lydia is an absolute addict when it comes to soft toys and plushies – and blankets & cushions, come to that. She likes to sleep in a nest of softness, rather than using a pillow and duvet like the rest of us.
Instead of sleeping directly on top of a sheet, she cocoons herself (often while wearing a fluffy onesie) in and on top of a pile of blankets and soft toys, which then cascade down onto her bedroom floor when she emerges in the morning – it’s a whole thing which causes chaos as James works in the same room while she’s at school. To add to her pile of cosiness, she’s been sent Bundle the Deddy Bear to review, much to her delight.

Bundle is a 12 inch (30cm) plush that comes zipped up in a satin body bag (otherwise known as a Deddy Bag!), complete with an amusing autopsy report.
According to the report, Bundle has been deceased since 30BCE, has the blood type ‘congealed’, and most likely died due to his face bandages being so tight they popped his eyeballs.

There are 8 fun Deddy Bear characters to collect (plus Smirkitty which is exclusive to Smyths in the UK) and you can get smaller 5.5 inch bears in little cardboard coffins, as well as the bigger cuddle sized 12 inch plush bears. Smyths also have even smaller clip-on Deddy Bear plush blind bags which come in tiny body bags and include a little death certificate.

Each Deddy Bear has a different ‘scary’ theme – including Vambear (the vampire) and Zombear (the zombie) – you get the idea. Their spookiness doesn’t detract one bit from their cuteness, however – they are somewhat adorable & amusing rather than super frightening.
There are some cute little touches that set each Deddy Bear apart like the ghost Deddy Bear Spekter having a cartoon ghost style lower body instead of legs, Zombear missing an ear & a hand, and the pumpkin Deddy Bear Squash having a stem on the top of his head.

Bundle is an Egyptian mummy themed bear and as such his nose is hidden behind the bandages and he has a flat head, unlike his fellow Deddy Bears who have a more traditional style face shape. He is super soft and squishy which makes him very nice to cuddle. I think Deddy Bears are an endearing mixture of quirky and snuggly.
Our Deddy Bear seems well made – both the bag and the bear – and I don’t see any signs of loose threads or cheap feeling fabrics which you sometimes get with low quality plushies.

Lydia says: I love my Deddy Bear because he is so cute and soft. I like the little autopsy report card, as it is a cool detail with information on how he probably died, when he died and even his blood type! The Deddy Bag he comes in is really cool too and the picture of a deceased bear on the front is adorable, even if it’s dead. Overall, I think Bundle (the name of the bear) will be a fantastic addition to my ever-growing collection of soft toys!
We give our Deddy Bear plush a 5 star rating.
