Ad disclosure: We were invited to attend this event for the purpose of this post, however all opinions are our own.
On Friday we took the girls along to Merry Hill to watch Toy Story 3 at the drive-in. It was a late night for the girls but a lot of fun. The film was the start of a weekend long event “Everyones Invited” with all sorts of things happening including music and dance performances. One thing I really like about Merry Hill’s drive-in events is that they donate all the ticket money to charity – in this case it was local charity Promise Dreams.
We were quite surprised that the girls stayed awake for the whole film, as it didn’t start till after 9:30. They watched every minute though, with Lydia snuggled up on my lap with her little duvet and pillow, and Georgie moving from Daddy’s lap, to the seat between their car sets, and finally squeezing onto my lap besides Lydia.

I love Toy Story 3 – the ending really pulls at your heart strings, and the girls loved it too. Lydia really enjoys watching films, and Georgie is getting into the idea now as well. We’ll probably be off to the cinema next weekend to see a certain film about the “yellow aliens!”

The drive-in was great fun, with a fancy dress competition for the kids (the cutest ever tiny Buzz Lightyear won) and competitions being held by the Free Radio team in the half hour before the show started. There is something really cool about parking up, tuning your car radio into the audio track, and reclining your car seat to watch the film.
Thank you to Merry Hill for inviting us along, and for the yummy popcorn!
