A plea to my adorable minx

Home Letters to Georgie A plea to my adorable minx

Dear Georgie,

Before I head into the land of nod, I just wanted to write a little note to inform you that 4:30 am is not an acceptable wake up time.

Now, this is not to say that I resent the occasional early hours nappy change and cuddle if you’ve been a little bit busy filling your nappy in your sleep or have had one of those nasty bad dreams, I’m just trying to explain that the morning doesn’t start until 7:00 am at the very earliest in this house these days, and more often it’s actually around 8. And guess what, we all currently seem to be very happy with this arrangement… And that generally includes you, my lovely little lazybones.

This morning you seemed to be a bit confused, so I just wanted to let you know (for future reference) that we actually didn’t join you in thinking that it was a fantastic idea to be wide awake by 5 am and demanding that we go downstairs for breakfast as soon as possible.

I know, I know, your lovely mummy (that would be me) took you downstairs and even managed to feed you, dress you & play with you at that ungodly hour of the day – but just because you were able to have an extra nap in the morning to make up for lost sleep doesn’t mean I managed to as well! I spent the day fuelled by coffee and snacks, and did very little in the way of housework or anything else remotely constructive. Well, unless you count walking all of about 100 metres to pick up daddy’s prescription that is!

Oh, and I lazed about a bit in the garden with you too. What a lot of effort that took.

So, in conclusion… Please… Darling girl… Let me sleep tonight?

Lots of love.. Zzzzzzzz

  1. I hope it worked!! I might just have to do a very similar post for Batman. That or buy some blackout blinds. I can only assume it's the sun waking him up, which means it's gonna get worse before it gets better zzzzzzz

  2. Oh no!! My daughter used to do the same in the summer months! A pair of black out blinds will soon put her back to her usual sleeping patters and you back to your 7-8am wake ups (which I am immensely jealous about by the way!!)
