I seem to have spent an inordinate amount of time in the kitchen today. And I didn’t even cook dinner! As well as sorting out breakfast for myself & miss mischief, and lunch for all 3 of us, I did the dishwasher with Georgie’s help… It was so sweet!
She was taking her plastic ikea plates out one by one & passing them to me to put away. She got frustrated after that though because she couldn’t lift the heavier china plates out of the rack. So once I’d done that for her she pulled the entire rack out instead!
Once the “helpful” little madam was down for her nap I got my apron on and got baking!
After James & I gaffa taped the beater attachment into submission I was able to use it to whip up 36 (!!) cupcakes and butter icing to go with them, and even managed to get two thirds of the cakes decorated by the time Georgie woke up.
Georgie was very excited by the whole thing once she woke up, and proceeded to try to climb up onto the table to steal the cakes. She was dragging chairs about to try and climb up, and standing in the back of her trike… The little monkey! She did manage to pull herself up onto her tiptoes and nab some icing when my back was turned though… I looked around to see her clinging onto the edge of the table with one hand and dipping her fingers into the icing on one of the rose cupcakes with the other, and then sucking it off her fingers before repeating the whole procedure with great glee – cheeky little madam!
A friend of mine managed to persuade me (with a lot of flattery and pleading!) to bake her some cakes for her little girl’s 4th birthday so she is coming to pick up two dozen cupcakes in the morning. She is paying me enough money to cover the cost of the ingredients and it was a good excuse to treat myself to some more Wiltons colour pastes! I am quite pleased with the finished result, even if I’m feeling pretty shattered now. I’m off to bed…
