At the weekend we headed to Bournville to join a scarecrow hunt! It was time for the annual Bournville Scarecrow Festival, and the girls were really excited to find all of the scarecrows. The theme of the Festival was “favourite children’s stories” and we easily recognised almost all of the wonderful scarecrows.
The scarecrows are all created by locals, and dotted around a short walk in the Bournville area. There were some amazing creations, and Georgie insisted on either taking a photo, or having a photo taken with each one! She did some ballerina dancing with Peppa Pig, attended the Mad Hatters tea party with Alice, and stuck her arms out in her best “EXTERMINATE” impression.
As well as the scarecrow trail, we enjoyed looking at the new community hub (I’m intrigued by the activity rooms – Birmingham blogger meet up with little ones in tow, anyone?), I drooled over the yarn shop, we visited the animals on the green, and bought some yummy cakes & scones to eat when we got home.
Georgie and Lydia both had fun creating scarecrow masks at Selly Manor, with paper plates and various decorations, including milk bottle tops for eyes. Lots of glueing, and some lovely happy drawn on smiles. They are both very proud of their masks, and had a blast making them.
