Confession Time… My Not-So-Secret Hobby

Home Chit Chat Confession Time… My Not-So-Secret Hobby

Anyone who has ever been in the spare room at either this house or our previous one will already know perfectly well that I am obsessed with… Jigsaws. I love them. I know, I’m like a little old lady in a nursing home or something… It’s so uncool, isn’t it?

There is something so relaxing about doing a jigsaw; they help me to clear my mind and sort out my thoughts. If I have been having a bad few days, I head into the spare room and sit down with a puzzle to unwind.

I have a large collection which consists mostly of mystery jigsaws, as I find them more challenging than regular jigsaws, although I love both kinds! The picture on a mystery jigsaw is different to the cover of the box, and they often come with a story – a murder mystery or similar – that you need to solve using clues from the completed jigsaw. I the corner of our spare room there is a big tall pile of these jigsaws… next to a shelving unit that contains yet more jigsaws, along with our comprehensive board game collection.

After we had Georgie I found it difficult to find space to do my jigsaws – it needed to be somewhere where they could be out of the way whilst in progress, and away from our little girl’s grabbing hands! Now we have sorted out the spare room and have a proper bed in there I am delighted, as I can open my jigsaw board up on the bed and have plenty of space to do my puzzles, out of harms way.

Georgie’s bedroom is right next door so I can even do puzzles while she’s having some independent play time – I just leave both doors open while she plays in her room, or in the hallway where she can see me, and every now and again she comes to see me for cuddles or to show me a toy.

Have you got any not-so-cool & not-so-secret hobbies?
