On Friday the new furniture for the spare room arrived; a basic three piece bedroom set so our future guests will have a bedside table, and we have a wardrobe and small chest of drawers in their for a little extra storage.
Once Lydia was down for her nap after lunch, I opened the box containing the bedside table and chest of drawers, armed myself with all the relevant tools and a can of chemical energy, and got stuck in.
Now then, Very claim on their instructions that each of these pieces of furniture should take two people one hour to make. Let me tell you now, the bedside table (with two small drawers) took considerably longer. It may have been partly down to the fact I was chatting with my brother, his wife, and their brand new baby boy via FaceTime… But to be honest I think it was largely down to Georgie’s “help” which included emptying screw packets out all over the rug for me, and rearranging the stickers labelling each part.
My theory goes like this: two people, one hour. One person, two hours. One person & a two year old, three hours & a sore thumb from the bit where she hammered you.
It’s a miracle the furniture made it together in a reasonable state! Especially since Georgie kept climbing on it when it was only half finished.

I don’t think I even want to go into what happened when Lydia woke up & I started on the chest of drawers. I’m repressing those memories for the sake of my sanity… Apart from the bit where Lydia hammered Georgie in the bottom. My sore thumb regards that as sweet, sweet, karma.
(Don’t worry folks, Georgie thought it was hilarious & I retrieved the hammer within seconds)
LOL! The furniture looks fab though.
Haha, thanks! Unsurprisingly the wardrobe I put together without the help of the little people went together MUCH faster lol
