Christmas is nearly here (only one week to go… PANIC!) and that can only mean one thing… it’s party time! A few years ago I would have been worrying about what to wear to my work’s Christmas do, but this year it was all about what do I bake for the party being held at our local children’s centre!?

We headed to the centre last Thursday morning for the big party, and Georgie loved (almost) every second of it…

There was pass the parcel… big hit. Parachute games… bigger hit. Balloons… even bigger hit. Bubble machine… tears and cuddles! Georgie is rather bizarrely terrified of bubble machines, although she loves “hand blown” bubbles! The entire time the bubble machines were running I had my little girl on my lap like a little human limpet, and she refused to rejoin the party until both machines were off and safely put away.

After the games were over, it was time for a buffet lunch (my cakes went down well so my experiment paid off!) and Georgie decided to have a little boogie while she ate. She also decided to roam around the room and help herself to food from abandoned plates and bowls (and some non-abandoned ones too!), oops.

Next up was a little lie down and the ringing of the bells to welcome Santa into the room! We had to sing jingle bells to encourage him to come in, while the kiddies jangled their bells like mad.

Georgie, bless her generous little heart, was more interested in giving Santa her jingle bells than taking her present from him. He ended up giving it to me… what you can’t see in this photo is Georgie forcing her bells into his other hand! She showed a lot more interest in her gift as soon as she realised a book was hidden inside, unsurprisingly.
I have to say that a few hours of toddler playtime in the mid morning is more appealing to me in my current condition than a booze filled night out, so I am perfectly happy with those two hours being the sum total of my Christmas party season this year!
