Review: When the team over at Garden Games offered to send Georgie a see saw to review, I couldn’t say yes fast enough! Georgie adores playing outdoors and I had high expectations following the high quality and instant success of the princess play tent we previously reviewed for them (which is still a big favourite a year later by the way!).

Georgie was very excited about the big box!

Once the order was put in, the see saw arrived quickly and Georgie was very excited to find out what was inside!

What’s in the box

The contents of the box were well packed, with all the screws and bolts in a canvas bag to protect the wood from getting scratched. The different parts of the see saw were clearly labelled and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I was pleased to see that they sent extra screws too, as it’s not unusual for one to go walkabout when you’re putting something flat packed together!

We did have an issue with some of the pre-drilled holes not being deep enough, and the instructions actually said that these particular holes should be drilled by yourself with the “included drill bit”. I queried this with customer services and they told me that the instructions are being updated and the holes should indeed be pre-drilled, with no drill bit included. In the end we drilled an extra half inch deeper with each hole and we had ourselves a sturdy and well built see saw!

The see saw itself is made from great solid wood, and (apart from the screwhole issues causing a bit of a delay with things) we put it together easily following the included instructions. The finished product is a decent size, of really high quality and is impressively stable with a real solid feel to it.

Once it was together, Georgie couldn’t wait to get on and have a go! She really loves it and every time she claps her eyes on it, she climbs onto it and asks us to push it up & down for her (“Mama! Dada! UP!”). The first week after it was built, she kept breaking into the front room to have a go at bouncing up and down on her lonesome, she was so excited.

I’m looking forward to the weather improving in the spring, so that we can put it outside in the garden and have some of her toddler group friends over to play! It can stay outdoors all year round but we figured she would get more use out of it indoors for now, and we have the space so why not!

Very pleased with the end result!

If you’re in any doubt as to how much Georgie has been enjoying her see saw, check out this video! You just have to promise to ignore the mess in our front room…

Despite the teething problems putting this together, it is a fantastic product. Georgie absolutely adores it, despite being a bit too young to play on it properly, and we have no doubt that it will last us for years and years!

It is a higher priced item at £109 but it would be an ideal “big gift” for a birthday or Christmas – you could even give it to all your kids to share for Christmas, or smile sweetly at grandparents for contributions! I’d love to have given it 5 stars, but in all honesty the issues we had with the construction mean I have to knock one off and go with a well deserved 4.
