Ad disclosure: We were given a selection of M Kitchen dishes & a £20 voucher as a thank you for visiting the M Kitchen roadshow. This post contains my honest opinion on the roadshow & the range of dishes we have tried.
The day after we got back from our holiday, we popped into Birmingham city centre to check out the M Kitchen Roadshow. M Kitchen is Morrisons in-house kitchen, where they play with flavours and recipes, developing all of the M Kitchen ready meals.
To celebrate a new range of meals, the M Kitchen chefs headed out on the road with a rather snazzy mobile kitchen to share their new flavours with the general public. We visited the roadshow in Victoria Square on 5th October.
There were cooking demonstrations to watch, and a good selection of tasters were offered to the public during the time we were at the roadshow. The taster portions were generous and allowed people to get a proper taste of the dishes – certainly not just one mouthful and it was gone. My favourite thing was the pulled pork & potato wedges, yum!
The cooking demonstration was very good with great tips and tricks for cooking that type of dish from scratch. It was great to watch some talented chefs at work. I had a nice chat with Jon, one of the chefs who develop the dishes at the M Kitchen at Morrisons HQ.
Jon told me how they are working to reduce the salt content in M Kitchen meals, and are having to use inventive ways to boost the flavour without resorting to throwing in a bucket of the white stuff. We also chatted about how they come up with their recipe ideas, and what inspires them. Jon seemed really passionate about his job and the food that he is helping create for the shelves of Morrisons stores, and it was great to meet him.
Georgie enjoyed tasting the various meals at the roadshow, and we all enjoyed everything we tried. The meals we brought home to try out were all great and we will definitely buy some of them again. Also, we used the Morrisons vouchers we got on a load of M Kitchen Chinese dishes for when my brother & sister-in-law visited last weekend, and it was a really lovely meal.
The roadshow has one more stop to visit, and will be heading to St Enoch Square in Glasgow, on Friday 25th & Saturday 26th October.
