But Mummy, it’s just like a roundabout!

Yesterday was an exciting day for us… our new sofa & armchair arrived! Yes, at 28 years old (not quite 29… yet! Nine days to go…), I am now at an age where a sofa delivery is the absolute height of excitement. Our last sofas were less than 5 years old, but were getting very uncomfortable – having had me sat in my favourite spot through two pregnancies and several combined years of breastfeeding.

After a month of back pain which worsened every time I had spent a few hours on the sofa, James and I decided to do the best thing possible on a Bank Holiday Monday; go furniture shopping! We trawled around three or four huge sofa shops before going back to SCS, the first one (of course), and buying the first sofa we had taken a shine to, several hours earlier. We chose a three seater sofa, a swivel chair and an accompanying half moon footstool.

Several weeks later, they’re here! They’re here! We are really pleased with them – they are comfortable whilst feeling supportive, and the pieces of furniture we picked fit into our living room perfectly, really opening up the space compared to how it was before.

I was really specific about what I wanted in a sofa this time around; after our last sofas from DFS were quite disappointing I knew I wanted to have foam rather than fibre filling, for the seat cushions at least, a more hard wearing fabric, and for our three seater sofa to have three seat cushions not two! I fell in love with the swivel chair the moment I sat down on it and I’m so pleased it fits so well by my desk as I imagined it would – it can be spun around to face my work area, or turn to face the social side of the room.

Of course, Georgie and Lydia are fans of the swivel chair too. The moment Georgie saw it had arrived, she scrambled on and declared “spin me!”

She and her little sister did have a few spins yesterday, I admit. Georgie was turning it while Lydia laughed delightedly and I have to say I found it hard to deny her logic; when I said to them it’s not supposed to be a roundabout and is in fact chair, Georgie’s answer was “but Mummy, it’s just like a roundabout!”
