Lansinoh HPA Lanolin Nipple Cream

Review: I have been using my tube of Lanolin nipple cream since Lydia was born, and have found it fantastic for soothing and protecting my nipples.

Lydia is exclusively breastfed, and is now feeding well – and often!

Lansinoh HPA Lanolin Nipple Cream

Our breastfeeding during the first day & night in hospital was quite awkward; I had IV drips & things to contend with which caused problems with our positioning and attachment. I found the lanolin really useful for soothing my nipples after this rough start left them sore & a little cracked.

As well as a difficult start in hospital, Lydia struggled a little for the first few days at home; her latch wasn’t perfect and she didn’t feed brilliantly until my milk supply settled down around day 6 or 7. She found it difficult to latch on when I was very full in the first day or two of my supply coming in, and my having to take her off & relatch a few times at the beginning of each feed meant that my already sore & tender nipples felt a bit abused! I used the lanolin cream consistently after each feed, as well as additional applications between feeds when thy felt particularly sore. Each time I found it very soothing and it definitely seemed to quicken the recovery and make it less painful to feed Lydia.

I love that the cream is so pure that you don’t have to wash it off in order to breastfeed your baby – you can lather on as much as you need without any worries.

It can be a little difficult to squeeze out of the tube if it is cold, and comes out as a bit of a hard lump. As soon as the cream warms up on your fingers/nipple, however, it is very easy to smooth into the skin. It gives immediate relief to soreness, and feels blissfully cool on inflamed skin.

Lansinoh HPA Lanolin Nipple Cream

We are now two & a half weeks on from starting to breastfeed, and it has been a week or so since my supply settled and we sorted out our positioning & attachment properly. My nipples are fully recovered from their initial soreness, and feeding Lydia is completely pain free. They have definitely healed quicker with the help of the lanolin than they would have done without. The only other treatment I have given my nipples has been to massage a little breastmilk in after feeds, and to wear breast pads to protect them from rubbing against my bra. I have been very impressed with the cream, especially as Lydia has a very “enthusiastic” latch which I thought would slow down the recovery process, despite the lanolin.

I would definitely recommend this product to any breastfeeding mum, especially for the first few weeks of feeding when your nipples need the protection & relief most. An easy 5 stars for something that has helped a lot in the last few weeks!
