Review: Georgie adores Raa Raa the Noisy Lion, so when we were sent Huffty & his train to review she was over the moon. She got so excited when she saw me unpack the delivery box to reveal a box covered in her favourite characters, and was very impatient while I extracted the toy from it’s packaging!
My first impressions of the toy were that it is a faithful representation of the train on the tv show, the cartoon style is really cute and it is great fun. The first day or so after we got the train Georgie carried Huffty around with her all over the place, usually with one of his ears in her mouth. She soon learned that the train rolled around on the floor and that it makes noises when you push it around.
It doesn’t take much encouragement before James will play trains so he was happy to sit with Georgie on the kitchen floor and play with Georgie while I cooked the other day, and they both seemed to enjoy the little interlude! We gave Georgie the Raa Raa dvd for her birthday and it came with a Raa Raa figurine so she was able to have both a driver and a passenger for her train!
Georgie is still a little young to figure out how exactly to put the animals into the train, as you can see from her attempt to put Huffty in headfirst above, but that’s not too surprising as the toy is really recommended for ages 2 and above. She enjoys taking the figurines out of the carriages and then pulling the carriages apart though (and then demanding that I put it all back together so she can carry on playing)!
The fab thing about the Raa Raa the Noisy Lion toys that Tomy have produced is that they all employ Smart Spot technology and are all inter-compatible; you can use any of the character figurines from the range with the train and each one has it’s own sound effects when you pop them in the train, so our train makes different noises depending on whether Raa Raa or Huffty is in the driving seat. We will have to buy a few more of the characters so she can swap them in and out!
The sound effects the train makes are really quite adorable, and my only criticism would be that they can be a little quiet to hear clearly over any background noise. Other than that small issue the toy has already given Georgie a lot of pleasure and I can see it being a firm favourite for years to come – we will definitely be getting her another few toys from the range at some point. 4 out of 5 stars for this fun toy!
