During the Summer holidays, we were invited along to Strada in the Mailbox for lunch with a bunch of other lovely bloggers. We got to try out the set menu, along with the kids menu – and the girls even got to try their hand at pizza making with their chef!
We started off with some drinks, chit chat, and the kids did some colouring on the neat fold out kids menus. They also got to try on some Strada hats, colour their own Strada Squad stickers, and then don some cute kids aprons for pizza making. Although Lydia was pretty tired out and not wanting to join in much, Georgie really enjoyed this activity and made a delicious looking pizza with a big pile of broccoli, ham, peas and mushrooms.
The Strada Squad kids menu is really good value; for just £6.50 your child gets a three course meal and a drink. The food is all really healthy yet still kid-friendly, and they have a choice of water, milk or juice to drink.
As well as the pizzas that we made, the girls really enjoyed sharing some Veggie Dippers and Garlic Flatbread starters, followed by Chargrilled Chicken & Fries for Lydia and Baked Market Fish Fillet with Fries for Georgie. They finished off with Ice Cream – and very big smiles of satisfaction!
The set menu we tried out had a good amount of options to choose from, and costs £9.95 for 2 courses, and £11.90 for 3 – served Monday to Friday 12-7pm. I tried some of two starters from the set menu; Tomato & Ricotta Bruschetta, and Melon & Parma Ham. The bruschetta was very tasty, and I must admit I adored the sweet melon and parma ham – so delicious!
For my main, I opted for a Chargrilled British 6oz Steak with fries – it was divine. I ordered it medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection, although I’m not sure it would be worth paying a £3 supplement for usually, as the other meal options looked really great too, and none other carries a supplement.
The meal was really enjoyable for all involved, and the staff were brilliant with the kids, and the resulting chaos of having so many eating together at once too! I was pleasantly surprised at how good value it all was as I would have expected higher prices for that sort of place, and the kids menu was really great. The girls ate loads and seemed to really like everything – I would definitely consider taking them there for lunch in the future, if I was in the area.
Strada – definitely not just for grown ups!
