Review: As part of our participation in National Stationery Week, which is coming up soon, Sheaffer sent us this gorgeous Sagaris fountain pen, in a very smart presentation box. It definitely gave me the wow factor when I opened up the box, it is a beautiful pen.
We were sent the Metallic Blue pen, which features a Chrome Plate Trim, and is extremely smart. I really like this colour, and the metallic paint effect is really lovely. The blue colour looks great with the chrome trim; this combination is very much my taste.
The fountain pen comes with two Sheaffer “Skrip” ink cartridges; one blue & one black. We popped the black cartridge in, and it clicked into place easily with no mess, and it didn’t take long before ink was flowing smoothly through the pen onto the page. In addition to the two “Skrip” cartridges, it also includes a piston converter that you can fill with ink.
This fountain pen is lovely to write with, and as with all fountain pens I am sure it would become even more comfortable with further use – as the nib wears to your writing style. The lines are clear and sharp with no problems with ink flow or unwanted splotches.
The shape of the pen is really nice; it looks very smart and is very comfortable to hold. It has a beautiful engraved nib, and the cap of the pen clicks nicely into place – and also feels snug when placed on the end of the pen whilst writing. It is quite a slim pen, and feels nicely balanced in your hand.
Overall I am very impressed with this smart fountain pen. At an RRP of £50 it is more than I would personally spend on a pen, but it is a very competitive price when you look at the market, and other fountain pens you can buy.
Five stars for this beautiful pen from Sheaffer.
