Georgie is four today!

It seems to have arrived so quickly, our little girl’s fourth birthday. Four seems so much older than three; more so than two to three. I suppose it’s because four is “school age” and our Georgiana will be starting at big girl school in September – she got her first choice school, by the way.

These days, Georgie is a happy & kind little person. She is friendly to other children, if a little shy still, and always likes to look after the new kids at pre-school. She goes to an amazing pre-school “playgroup” five mornings a week and is thriving there, the staff are fantastic and she comes home tired and happy and full of stories to tell. Georgie has a best friend who goes to the pre-school three mornings a week – and “Sophie days” are the best days. 

Georgie loves to wear jeans and has to be persuaded into dresses, has been set of blue being her favourite colour for some time now, and is definitely not a morning person. She likes to pick dandelions and daisies, race everyone else to the front door, obsessively takes off her shoes in the house (and tells off her Granny if she leaves hers on!) and loves to draw, play play-doh, and build amazing creations with duplo and Lego.

Mummies and Daddies is Georgie’s favourite game, and she ropes in her little sister to join in the fun. I frequently get told I’m “the big sister” or “grandma” and even sometimes – with a lot of giggling – I am “daddy”. The rooms of the house a transformed in her imagination to the park, school, the library, the doctors, and home, and she and Lydia charge about the house going from place to place while talking non stop to one another. 

She loves to curl up and play with the iPad to wind down – educational games and creative games are her favourite, and she adores the apps that involve learning her letters & tracing them on screen. She’s better with the phonics pronunciation than I am. On the TV, she likes Bing, Sarah & Duck, Twirlywoos, Dora, and she has just started to enjoy Disney movies, although she has been a Tinkerbell fan for a while.

Georgiana takes her role of big sister very seriously and the pair of them are thick as thieves. They have a caring, loving relationship that is lovely to see – of course there are plenty of sibling squabbles! Every day when we go to pick up Georgie, Lydia runs to her and they have a huge hug before heading home. Georgie looks after Lydia a lot and loves to sit and read to her. If Lydia is upset or hurt, Georgie will fetch her a soft toy to cuddle and kiss her upset away. 

In short, our girl is loving, caring, tomboyish, imaginative, eager to learn and fun to be around. Happy birthday, Georgie xxxx
