Rating: (5/5 stars) Review: My jewellery collection is admittedly a complete hodgepodge of styles, with some fun pieces displaying my geeky side, a couple of pieces representing my family or ancestry, a few fun seasonal pairs of earrings, and the rest being a collection of pieces that are just pretty, with a simple elegance. I often choose to wear a single necklace and pair of earrings that co-ordinate nicely with one another, and this Star necklace from Lulu + Belle is a perfect addition to my collection – being both a sentimental piece representing our children and an absolutely beautiful necklace in itself. Lulu + Belle impressed me with their presentation from the first moment I opened the parcel, as they use really pretty packaging, with customised shipping boxes and lovely gift boxes. Included in the box was a small gift card that you could add your own message to if giving the necklace as a gift, and a floral bookmark with care instructions for their jewellery on the reverse. Lulu + Belle has a beautiful range of family jewellery, and their Star necklace is my favourite piece from the collection. The North Stars on the necklace “represent a guiding light and purpose in life” – perfect for a piece that symbolises your children, and very sweetly sentimental. This would make a wonderful and meaningful gift for any mum. You can choose to have up to four stars stamped onto the larger 12mm disc, along with up to four of the smaller 8mm initial discs on the necklace – each additional disc costs a little extra, as you’d expect. My necklace has two stars, along with two discs with the initials G and L engraved on them to represent our daughters Georgiana and Lydia. The engraving is really nicely done, with the initials and stars clear and neatly positioned on the discs – something that sounds like a small detail, but makes a big difference with personalised jewellery. I like that one of the stars is a little bigger than the other, perfect for my girls as Georgie is almost two years older (and half a head taller!) than Lydia. The chain of the necklace is adjustable between 16 and 18 inches, and it is a gorgeous sterling silver piece, although it is also available in 14kt gold. I personally prefer a longer chain, so am wearing it with a short necklace extender in this photo, as I do for a number of my necklaces. I do think the price is reasonable for a personalised sterling silver piece. The discs of the necklace sit really well on my skin, with no problems with them overlapping too much or turning the wrong way around. It is very comfortable to wear, which seems like an odd thing to say, I know, but I have found some jewellery very uncomfortable against my skin in the past. I really like that this one sits neatly without me constantly being aware that I’m wearing it. I have several pairs of celestial-themed earrings, so this necklace pairs really well with some of my simple silver star pairs. It is a wonderful addition to my jewellery box and looks great with almost any outfit. I absolutely love this necklace. It manages to be sentimental without being overly fussy, and the simple silver design means it is something I can wear every day rather than saving for special occasions. Having my girls’ initials and stars on it makes it particularly special to me, but even without the sentimental meaning, it is a really pretty and versatile piece of jewellery. The quality, attention to detail and comfortable design have all impressed me, making this a lovely addition to my jewellery collection and one I can see myself wearing for years to come.
