Easter Trail at Clent Hills

Home Days Out Easter Trail at Clent Hills

We’ve been doing the Cadbury Easter Trails with the kids for a few years now, at various National Trust properties (Hanbury Hall in 2014, Buckland Abbey in 2013). This year we were unsure that we would get to do one, as we have been incredibly busy over the Easter holiday doing up the girls bedroom.

Luckily we had a window of time on Easter Sunday while the first coat of floor varnish dried to pop out for the afternoon for some sunshine and clue hunting. After an intensive week of DIY it was lovely to get some fresh air and have a change of scene.

We headed to Clent Hills this year, which is our closest National Trust property, to take part in their Cadbury Easter Trail. They had two trails; a shorter one with all the items to find for little tots, and a slightly longer one with some additional activities for older children. As Georgie was pretty tired and we had limited time we opted for the shorter route, missing out the extra walk to the standing stones at the top of the hill.

It was quite muddy but very enjoyable to be out having fun as a family – the girls had to find different items that a ranger needs to build a home for the Easter Bunny, and once we had everything on the list checked off, we could go to see the bunny in his “new house” in their natural play area.

Georgie and Lydia both really enjoyed looking out for the ribbons and telling us what each item was, and Georgie even managed to find some on the list herself, with us talking about what letter they started with.

The views from Clent Hills are lovely and I am looking forward to us all going back there on a clear day and walking up to the top of the hill to get a good look. It is really beautiful there, and the cafe is quite nice – I had a lovely mocha and a very tasty sausage and egg sandwich.

I wonder which Cadbury Easter Trail we’ll be visiting next year?
