It’s National Puzzle Day! Naturally, this is a very valid excuse to blog about my most recent jigsaw fun.
James got me NINE Ravensburger puzzles for Christmas after a friend of his posted a special offer selling second hand puzzles to benefit his church. In addition to those, I picked up a couple of Ravensburger puzzles second hand in Ely charity shops when we visited family in the area last Autumn, so I have had a very nice stack of their puzzles to work my way through. Here are a few I’ve done recently…
Quite a few of the puzzles are Colin Thompson ones, including a few of his Awesome Alphabet jigsaws – so far I have done the ‘E’ puzzle. The alphabet puzzles are always great fun as you can try to spot as many things as you can that start with that letter as you go.
My mother in law also got me a jigsaw for Christmas; a round ‘There is No Planet B‘ puzzle from Gibson Puzzles. It is a really nice image and it was lovely to do a circular puzzle for a change. This puzzle is from their White Logo Collection which features more contemporary designs, which are the type of puzzles I enjoy the most, so it’s nice to have another one in my collection.
Another contemporary puzzle I’ve enjoyed in the last few months or so is this Hands puzzle from Cloudberries. It is one I got for my birthday last summer and I was delighted to have another of their puzzles to add to my jigsaw pile, as I really enjoy putting them together to de-stress; something about their deceptively simple and colourful designs make them relaxing to put together.
Another birthday gift I got around to putting together in the Autumn is this The King’s Coronation jigsaw from The Original Jigsaw Co, who print limited run puzzles to commemorate events etc. I have their Thank You Ma’am puzzle as well, which features moments from Queen Elizabeth’s life.
Lastly, I thought I would include the jigsaw Lydia and I worked on throughout December – an Advent Puzzle that my Dad sent to us as an alternative advent calendar (which admittedly did monopolise my jigsaw board for 24 days – but was worth it!). The box contained 24 smaller numbered boxes, which each have a small portion of the puzzle.
Georgie isn’t into jigsaws as much as Lydia and I are, and so although she did place the odd piece it was mostly put together by Lydia and myself. It was great fun to add a bit of puzzle at a time, and we made sure to put the pieces back into their numbered boxes so we can repeat the fun this year.
I still have 6 of my Christmas Ravensburger puzzles to put together yet, so I have plenty of puzzlin’ fun in the future too. Of course, I do enjoy all sorts of puzzles, not just jigsaws – and I frequently get my jigsaw fix with an iPad app too. I’m only a little bit addicted, I swear!
