Geocaching… it’s been a while!

Home Chit Chat Geocaching… it’s been a while!

We haven’t been out geocaching for ages, partly due to rotten weather whenever we’ve had the inclination! I noticed a new series of caches had appeared in our local area, so we headed out to hunt them down with the kids. Georgie has been ill over the last half of the Easter holidays (boo, hiss!), so it was nice to be able to get out with them to get some fresh air.

Lydia and Georgie love finding “treasure chests”, and even though it had been a while, they definitely remembered the routine of choosing a treasure to take home, and choosing one or two things from Mummy’s stash to replace it. We never put a geocache treasure back in another cache; instead the girls have a box of treasures at home.

We just use our iPhones to hunt, and this outing was the first time Georgie has been insistent on holding Mummy’s iPhone herself to follow the compass point to the hiding place – she was so cute tramping around in the bushes, and then so proud when she found two caches almost entirely by herself (I may have hinted which trees might have been involved!).

I’m sure we’ll be out again soon, Georgie’s geocaching love has definitely been revived.

    • It’s so fun and addictive! The joy Georgie and Lydia get out if it is fab, and it’s a great excuse to get out and get some fresh air and exercise
