Review: We were sent two of the new Bubble Trouble dolls for Lydia to play with & test out, and she adores them with their bright & colourful clothes and hair, and little squishy buddies.

We were sent Watermelon Slice and Bubblegum Kitty to review, and there are two more in the first series to collect – Sundae Funday, and Pineapple Punch. Each doll comes with a squishable buddy, and a certificate of authenticity.

The unique feature of these dolls is that their hair is stretchy and scented, making it super tactile and fun to play with.

Their clothes and shoes come off so you can mix and match their outfits – which is what Lydia did immediately! Their clothing reflects their name, so Watermelon Slice is wearing a stretchy watermelon themed dress and matching boots, and Bubblegum Kitty has pink and blue dungarees and matching shoes. The dresses are stretchy like their hair, and button up in the back.
The clothes and shoes are both a little trick to get on & off, so younger kids may need some help with this – Lydia ended up getting me to help with both and even I struggled with the shoes.

Each doll comes with a Certificate of Authenticity in the package which is a nice little extra, Lydia thought they were very swish with their gold edging.

Each Bubble Trouble doll also comes with a sticky, squishy, ‘Bubble Buddy’ friend who you can smoosh and squeeze – Lydia adores them! They do pick up carpet fluff and so on, but you can just rinse them off with a bit of water and they are as good as new.
Watermelon Slice’s little friend is shaped like a slice of melon, coloured a swirl of pink and green, and called Pippy. Smoosh is Bubblegum Kitty’s little Bubble Buddy, and is coloured with swirls of blue and pink to match her outfit.

These dolls & their buddies are great fun to play with; you can move their arms, legs & head to pose them, and have lots of cute little details like kitty socks and brightly coloured eyes.

As you can tell it was pretty much love at first sight for Lydia! She has been having a great time making up stories with the dolls swapping clothes and shoes, and ‘playing with each other’ as they sit on the rug.

Lydia loved them so much than an immediate facetime call to my parents was required to show off her new toys to Grandma and Grandad! You know a toy is a hit when this sort of thing happens!
We give the Bubble Trouble dolls 5 stars. They are available for £19.99 from Smyths Toys.
