Review: This 1000 piece jigsaw from Ravensburger depicts a fairytale themed digital artwork by Aimee Stewart, and is a lovely puzzle to put together.

Inside the box, alongside the bag of pieces, you get a information sheet with the puzzle picture, some information about the artist, and about the image itself.

I find these sheets really useful as a reference while I’m putting a puzzle together as it saves you having to continually look at the more unwieldy box lid, and you can also use both halves of the puzzle box to spread out and sort the puzzle pieces.

This jigsaw depicts a really rich and wonderful fantasy scene, created digitally and showing a bookcase filled with stories, with the characters escaping from the pages of the books.

The Mad Hatter can be seen presiding over a tea party, Cinderella has lost her glass slipper on the stairs, and Aladdin’s lamp can be spotted – the jigsaw is full of tiny details like this, and characters from different fairytales are dotted around the picture.

I really enjoyed putting this puzzle together; the colours are so vibrant and it is really visually pleasing and interesting too. It was challenging enough to be a good brain cell workout without being frustrating.

As always with Ravensburger puzzles the pieces fitted together really nicely with the ‘soft click technology’, and the puzzle is printed on good quality cardboard with a linen finish preventing glare. I bought myself a non-Ravensburger puzzle recently and was so annoyed by it! Several of the pieces were still stuck together, some of the cardboard backing of the pieces was ripped, and the pieces didn’t fit together so well – I’ve obviously become very spoilt by Ravensburger puzzles!

5 stars for this pretty & enjoyable puzzle.
