Disclosure: we receive free entry to LDC Birminghm for the purpose of sharing about our visits.
We went to LEGOLAND Discovery Centre last week to attend the launch of their LEGO Movie Days event, in celebration of the LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.
Included in the standard ticket price, the LEGO Movie Days event includes some fun activities for your kids to take part in, including hunting for the LEGO Movie characters around Miniland, meeting Emmet and Wyldstyle, making your very own LEGO movie, and building & testing escape vehicles.

There are a few other activities we didn’t get time to check out too; making a building for their very own Bricksburg, and contributing to a mosaic build.
We spent quite a while in Miniland, hunting for the different LEGO Movie characters and scenes – in some areas the aliens from DUPLO Planet have invaded! Once we had collected all the clues from the characters, we were able to find where Benny had crash-landed, too.

We did spot the Welcome to Apocalypseburg! set in amongst the Miniland buildings – it was great to see the flagship LEGO Movie 2 set in ‘the flesh’ (the plastic?) even though it is a touch out of our budget right now!

Once we headed through to the main area of the attraction, Georgie and Lydia both made their own stop motion animation, something they really enjoyed, and had a great time building and testing escape vehicles in the event room. Lydia loved getting to meet and have her photo taken with Emmet and Wyldstyle, too!

We took the opportunity to try out their 4D cinema for the first time, enjoying the LEGO Movie adventure they show – the girls thought being squirted with water was hilarious and really enjoyed the short film. They also enjoyed a run around the soft play area while James and I enjoyed a coffee and muffin from the cafe.

It was great to see the way the builders are changing the Miniland to suit the seasons and events throughout the year; last time we were there it was decorated for Christmas, and this visit they had Chinese New Year celebrations going on, as well as some areas with a definite Valentine’s Day theme.
We’ll be heading back to LEGOLAND Discovery Centre this weekend for another visit, as well as heading across to Sea Life to check out their Jawsome Sharks by Play-doh event.
