Rating: (5/5 stars) Review: While Lydia and Georgie aren’t Fortnite gamers, Georgie’s best friend Lily absolutely loves the game, and plays it online with her dad. So, when we were offered our very own loot crate filled with the latest toys in the Battle Royale Collection, I knew that Lily would love a special Fortnite treat! Lily came over during the half-term break to play with the girls and was super excited when I dropped the crate onto the living room rug for them to open. With a roster of 100 characters to collect, these poseable figures are a great way to bring Fortnite into real life – and the girls had a great time ‘battling’ each other with the figures and their swappable weapons and accessories. We were sent two duo packs and four solo packs in our supply drop: With each figure, you get two accessories – mostly their iconic weapons and ‘back bling’, according to the expert guest reviewer! – and a display stand. The display stands were quickly roped into their imaginative play as shields, as Lily rapidly explained how many hits they had to get to knock each other out – and to break the shields and platforms. The accessories can be swapped from one character to another to extend gameplay, too. The figures are around 2-inch high and are all based directly on the different characters in the game. Lily was very pleased to get the Red Knight character, as her Dad cosplayed as him last year! Some of the characters are ‘rare’ or ‘super rare’, and the playsets you can get include some of the iconic vehicles and forts from the game, including the Battle Bus. The girls had a great time staging imaginary solo and team battles, racing the figures across our rug and bashing each other’s characters with their weapons. When you finish playing with the toys, you can use the stands to display them all. With so many figures to collect, you could build up quite an impressive display! Overall Lily was over the moon about these toys, and both Georgie and Lydia enjoyed playing with them even though they had no idea who they were. As a massive Fortnite Fan Lily was thrilled to begin a collection of these Battle Royale figures, and I have a sneaking suspicion that a playset from the range, along with some more figures, will be on her Christmas list this year! Although £4.99 is what I’d expect to pay for a branded collectable figure like this, especially one that comes with accessories and a display stand, I can’t help cringing a little at the cost a full collection would come to! Of course, most collectors would just want their favourite characters so that’s not a massive issue. The toys are available now from Smyths Toys, Very and Amazon. Lily gives the Fortnite Battle Royale Collection 5 stars and was very pleased to head home with her very own drop crate. I wonder who’ll be dropping into her collection next!
