Review: The girls really enjoy Lion Guard, which is a children’s TV series based on the Lion King films. The main character, Kion is Simba’s youngest child, and he and his group of friends help maintain the peace in the Pride Lands.
This playset is based on the Hyena’s area in the Outlands, and is full of different traps to catch the Lion Guard when they come poking around! The girls really enjoyed setting off the different traps, including the rock rolling down the volcano, and a bone trap.
It is a good quality toy – the plastic doesn’t feel flimsy or like it is going to snap easily like some toys do. It is definitely sturdy enough to put up with the kids throwing the rock around, or flinging it at high speed with the playset.
I think the main negative of this playset is that it only comes with a Hyena – and he should be springing the traps on other animals. The girls would definitely have had more fun with another animal (one of the “good guys”) to play with it together.
Their favourite bit of the set is the winding tree which you can place an animal onto then it spins down and around the tree trunk. The playset comes with a second branch which allows you to attach some different characters to the tree.
Lydia and Georgie have had the set out a few times to play with it, and have had a lot of fun with it.
The set is a lot of fun and the girls enjoyed it very much, and it has quite a few features. The only downside to the set is the need to buy more figures before you can really play with it to it’s full potential. It is ideal for any young Lion Guard fans! 4 stars.
