Rating: (5/5 stars) Review: With the countdown to Christmas now in double digits, it’s time to start keeping an eye out for the perfect gifts for the loved ones in your life. Of course, this includes your furry family members too! Lily’s Kitchen sent us some products from their new festive range to try out, and Gypsy was very happy to oblige. Lily’s Kitchen, who make “proper food for pets” have quite an impressive Christmas range, with advent calendars for both your canine and feline family members, as well as festive treats for dogs, and meals to allow them to have their very own Christmas feast on the 25th. I love the festive packaging on these advent calendars, and they are packed with tasty treats for your pets. Their Advent Calendar for Cats (£10) has chicken treats with liver, and turkey treats with cranberry. I’m sure these will go down very well with all the cats that get to enjoy a Lily’s Kitchen advent calendar this year! The dogs are certainly not left out with their Advent Calendar for Dogs (£10)! They will be enjoying ‘Rise & Shines’ treats which are made with beef liver, fresh carrots, blackstrap molasses and alfalfa, ‘Training Treats’ made with apples & cheddar, and ‘Bedtime Biscuits’ made with honey, yoghurt, chamomile and passion flowers. They didn’t have the Christmas meal for cats in stock to send us, but we got a Classic Chicken Dinner to try out instead. For the festive season, some lucky cats will be tucking into a Christmas Turkey & Ham Feast (£1.10). We don’t have a cat ourselves, so the advent calendar and cat food have been gifted to Georgie’s best friend (who is actually called Lily – how perfect!) for her cat to enjoy. I’ve been told it went down very well indeed! As for our Gypsy, she has been delightedly trying out the different treats we were sent! There are two different gift boxes available for your canine family members; the ‘Christmas Proper Treats Gift Box‘ (£5) and the ‘Christmas Spectacular Treats for Dogs‘ (£3.95), both of which Gypsy has thoroughly tested out. The heart shaped Festive Treats for Dogs are oven baked treats with turkey, cranberries, thyme and cinnamon – very festive! Gypsy really likes these and would quite happily snaffle the lot if she was allowed! We are saving the rest of the pack for her furry family to enjoy, however – my Mother-in-Law is a Norwich Terrier breeder, and so her little pack of terriers (including Gypsy’s barmy daughter) are bound to enjoy these. Inside the Proper Treats for Dogs can be found three different meaty treats; ‘Limited Edition Christmas Turkey Bites’, S’crumptious Dunk & Venison Sausages’, and ‘The Best Ever Beef Mini Burgers’. Gypsy goes totally bonkers for these! She really enjoys them. Waving the box in her direction results in shaking with excitement, puppy dog eyes, and a frantic display of all her tricks in an attempt to persuade me into handing one over. We are saving the Christmas Three Bird Feast (£2.75) which is basically Christmas dinner in a can, for Gypsy to enjoy as a special Christmas treat. It is enough to give her a very nice Christmas Day meal, and one on Boxing Day too! She usually eats a dry food diet so it is a big treat when she gets to munch on some meat instead, so I know she will really enjoy her Christmas treat. I have been really impressed with all of these products, especially the high ‘proper’ meat content (as opposed to bone meal and so on) and focus on wholesome natural ingredients including plenty of veg. Gypsy has certainly been enjoying trying them out! We give the Lily’s Kitchen Christmas range 5 stars – they are more expensive than some of the food and treats you’ll see at the supermarket, but it’s definitely a case of ‘you get what you pay for’ – these products are definitely ‘proper food’ for your pets.
