Manufacturer’s Description: This weird, wonderful and utterly whacky image shows all sorts of flying machines and winged creatures making their way home. Some of the flying machines are sophisticated, futuristic “flying saucers”, some are more like zeppelins, whilst others are simple hot air balloons. And the “home” they are all aiming for is a large castle with lots of tall towers, brightly lit windows and quirky features. The surrounding landscape of rich green fields and rolling hills looks calm, in direct contrast with the busy, crowded sky.
Review: You’ve got to love a good jigsaw session, and I tested out my new jigsaw board with this gorgeously whimsical Ravensburger puzzle recently.
Colin Thompson’s slightly wacky and wonderful puzzles are amongst my favourites; they are colourful and fun, and really enjoyable to put together. I love the different patterns and designs in this puzzle; the level of challenge is just right.
As always with Ravensburger puzzles, the quality is really nice & the puzzle pieces fit into place with a lovely “soft click”. Included within the box is an A4 sheet with some information about the puzzle, and a picture of the design – which is really useful when completing the puzzle, to have it for a reference image if you are using the box lid to sort pieces.
I did have a slight issue this time around with the blue backing cardboard being slightly torn in places rather than cut super neatly, but I only noticed this on three or four pieces. Other than that it was very clean cut and all the pieces were separate in the bag, none of that annoying two bits stuck together annoyance.
Overall I was delighted with this puzzle, it was perfectly challenging without being frustrating and lots of fun to put together, wonderfully relaxing and has a fantastic design. 4 stars!
