Manufacturer’s Description: This collection really is simplicity, and it’s amazing how few things you need to make a great night in. Cheese and wine are washing down with refreshing sherbet lemons in this deceptively scrumptious selection.

Serenata Hamper - Simplicity

Review: I was offered a hamper to review by the lovely folks at Serenata, and so of course I said “yes please” – who doesn’t love a box of treats arriving at your door? When you are running low on gift ideas for a special birthday or event, a hamper is an excellent way to spoil someone you love. We let Serenata know what sorts of things we liked and asked to be surprised, and they chose to send us the Simplicity hamper, which costs £39.99.

Serenata Hamper

My hamper was delivered by Yodel, and it was securely packed in a cardboard box with wood straw and further protection around the wine bottle. All of their hampers come with free next day delivery within the UK, and you can order up to 10pm on weekends, 6pm on Saturday, or 7pm on Sunday, which is great.

Simplicity Hamper

Inside our hamper we received:

  • A bottle of Chardonnay Terres 2014 white wine
  • A bag of “The Dormen” Wasabi Peanuts
  • Monty Bojangles Rhubard and Custard sweets
  • Mondovino Black Olive Crackers
  • Kay’s Kitchen Organic Tomato & Onion Chutney
  • Croome Cuisine Hand Waxed Scrumpy & Crunchy Apple
  • Croome Cuisine Hand Waxed Worcestershire Gold Mature Cheddar

Simplicity Hamper contents

It is a nice selection of items for an “evening in” with everything you need for socialising after dinner (and after the kids’  bedtime!) with friends or family. We brought the hamper along to Cornwall with us to visit my parents and the four of us have been enjoying sharing the different yummy items inside, with something for everyone.

Tomato and Onion Chutney

This handmade organise Tomato and Onion Chutney from Kay’s Kitchen is very nice, if a little bit too sweet. It goes really well with the cheeses supplied in the hamper, and I can’t see the jar lasting the week! We have been enjoying this with our lunches as well as the occasional evening nibble.

Rhubarb and Custard sweets

I am a huge fan of retro boiled sweets like these ones, so I was very happy to see a box of rhubarb and custard in the hamper. In the description on the website, it does say that this should be lemon sherbets, but as I am a fan of both types of sweet I don’t really mind! These ones are particularly lovely and I will definitely savour this treat.

The Dormen Wasabi Peanut

James and I aren’t really fans of wasabi, but my Dad has really been enjoying a few of these wasabi peanuts a day since opening the packet. The bag is full of small peanuts surrounded in a wasabi coating.

Chardonnay

We shared this bottle of Chardonnay with our dinner a few days ago, and all four of us enjoyed our drinks. It isn’t the nicest white wine in the world but it is nicer than most of the bottles of Chardonnay that you can pick up at the shops. I would expect to pay around £8 for a bottle of this quality from a supermarket.

Overall we have been very happy with the contents of the hamper, but I do think that it is a touch expensive at £39.99. Even taking the free delivery into consideration the per-item cost is still a bit high. We give the Simplicity Hamper from Serenata 4 stars.
