Review: This book is incredible fun, Georgie loved it from the very first moment she saw it.
In Spaghetti with the Yeti, a boy called George sets off on an quest to find the Yeti. The pace, rthymn & rhyme of this book are all perfect, making this a pleasure to read aloud.
“A boy called George had an excellent plan
To go and discover the Yeti.
He put in his backpack a warm woolly hat,
a map and a tin of spaghetti.”
Armed only with a map, a tin of spaghetti & a woolly hat, George sets off to prove that the Yeti exists. On his travels George comes across a whole variety of friendly monsters who advise him what the Yeti would like to eat.
George mistakes each of these monsters for the Yeti, but instead they are all called something else that rhymes with “Yeti”. Georgie thinks this is hilarious and loves to repeat their names while we read the book.
The illustrations by Lee Wildish are fantastic, great fun and full of little details – like the “I heart Bigfoot” badge on George’s bedside drawers & Yeti soft toys under his bed.
This book is the first in a new series by Adam & Charlotte Guillain and Lee Wildish, and I look forward to the next installment, “Marshmallows for Martians”.
Georgie has been reading this constantly since it arrived, and has taken it up to her room to read at bedtime & naptime. She sits in her bed looking at it & it is now a frequent request on the bedtime story rota.
We give this book 5 stars!
