Supergirl
The female equivalent to Superman, Supergirl is set to hit the small screen in a new television program for CBS in the United States. For little girls who want to don the familiar “S” symbol, Supergirl is a fun and easy costume idea. You can buy a premade costume or opt to make your own with blue tights and a blue leotard emblazoned with the “S” logo. Cap this off with red boots and a red cape, and you’ve got a fun and instantly recognizable superhero outfit.
Wonder Woman
Another comic book hero is Wonder Woman, an Amazonian Princess who dons a glamorous costume of red, gold, and blue. Combine a blue skirt with gold stars with a wide gold belt, red top, and requisite cape and you have a winning costume for girls.
WordGirl
A character on an animated PBS Kids program, Becky Botsford is just your everyday 5th grader who transforms into “WordGirl,” using her stellar vocabulary to outwit dastardly criminals. She dresses in a red jumpsuit and yellow cape, with a star on the front. Perhaps her most recognizable accessory that should be included in any costume is her monkey sidekick, Captain Huggy Face.
Batgirl
While Superman has Supergirl, Bat Man has Batgirl! She fights alongside the man in the black mask, helping him prevent crimes. For a good Batgirl costume, your little girl will of course need to dress in head-to-toe black, including a cape and boots. She’ll also need the golden bat logo on the front of the costume. While Wonder Woman and Supergirl’s costumes are rather girly, Batgirl actually wears a very similar costume to Batman, so you could simply purchase a unisex costume for this superhero.
The Avengers
The Avengers has hit box office gold in the past few years, bringing several of Marvel Comic’s top superheroes to the big screen as a team of crime-fighting companions. You’ll find no shortage of Thor and Captain American costume UK options, but there are also a number of team members who provide plenty of girl power. She-hulk, The Black Widow, Spider-woman, and the Wasp all provide potential costume ideas for girls, appearing in the original comic book series.
The X-Men
The X-Men is another team of crime-fighters that includes several prominent female members, each with her own kick-ass powers. Dress as Storm in a black jumpsuit and silvery wig, or Rogue in her trademark yellow and green. Or if your little one prefers to be Wolverine, she can wear the yellow, blue, and red outfit with ears and spiky gloves just as well as any boy!
