The award for Klutz of the month goes too…

Home Chit Chat The award for Klutz of the month goes too…

…Me!

If you’ve been reading my twitter feed over the past week or so, you’ll no doubt be well aware that I am a ridiculous idiot. I don’t seem to be capable of putting one foot in front of the other successfully at all.

While visiting my cousin’s house last weekend, I managed to fall about two thirds the way down her stairs, banging down on my bum after my knee gave way. I whacked my left shoulder & arm, and the bottom of my feet and the backs of my legs were badly bruised. As was my ego.

I was aching very badly for several days, in lots of places. To make matters worse, earlier this week I managed to trip over my own feet in a very public place (isn’t that ALWAYS the way?!) and as well as embarrass myself thoroughly, I managed to badly bruise the front of my legs and knees (to match the backs of my legs, obviously), as well as get both knees into a bloody mess.

While I would like to place the entirety of the blame on a nasty bug I have that is blocking my ears, messing with my balance and making me half-deaf, I have to admit I have a long history of being a completely useless person when it comes to staying upright. I fell out of my front door when pregnant with Georgie (causing a mad rush to the hospital) and James knows me so well he actually banned me from leaving the house on my own during the last month of Lydia’s pregnancy, as it was incredibly icy and snowy outside all the time.

When I was in primary school, I managed to break my nose by falling onto it. Just to make matters worse, I broke it again less than a week later.

By walking into a wall.

Really.

Maybe it should just be the Klutz of a lifetime award, not a month?

I’m seriously considering Carole’s suggestion of investing in some protective gear. I’m clearly not capable of walking about without damaging myself.

To make matters worse, the bug I have been fighting this week has settled in my chest as well, so my sleep is interrupted my lots of very painful coughing, my throat hurts, and the lack of sleep has been giving me awful headaches and a couple of very unpleasant migraines. I’ve been neglecting work, my email accounts and my blog as I have felt so ill this week – James had to work from home for a few days because I couldn’t manage on my own. Thankfully I do seem to finally be on the mend (or at least I’ve become accustomed to near-deafness and a hacking cough, and the other symptoms are easing).

This is about as active as we managed to get on Friday

The icing on the cake is we’re committed to tackling a complete DIY redecoration of the girls room over the holiday, including flooring. The girls are sleeping their first night in the spare room as I type, so the grand plan for their new room is definitely going ahead.

Can I get a Pity Party for one to accompany that Klutz award please?

  1. Oh My! I do hope you are feeling better very soon and all the bruising heals up quickly too. What a catalogue you have there. I can’t compete, although I did fall and break my nose as a child, I only did it once. x Good luck with the decorating, I’m supposed to be doing our girls room too but lacking in motivation here.

    • Thanks! We definitely have motivation – they have to be out of the spare room and back in their “new room” by the time my father in law comes to visit in a week in a half!

    • I’ve mostly been absent from the internet (I’m horrified at the sight of my inbox!) with laptop off and just logging on to post the odd complaint :-/

      Thanks 🙂

We have so much to do! Finish clearing the room, strip the walls, prepare them, wallpaper, paint the wood work, sand the floor & treat it. Oh, and of course then build the new furniture. Eeeeeek.
