Two magical moments to brighten a bad day!

Home Chit Chat Two magical moments to brighten a bad day!

I’ve had a really mixed week, over the past week. We have had some nice moments but it has been largely overshadowed by a series of minor disasters, including computer problems, illness, house-related drama, and general grumpiness due to lack of sleep & high stress levels.

Today, I have been feeling pretty sorry for myself. I seem to have caught whatever bug Georgie has been suffering from, with a temperature last night making it hard to sleep. Instead of just sticking to head & limbs aching as normal when I have a virus, my body has decided to chuck some random jaw ache and ear ache at me too. My face seems to have puffed up and I’m absolutely shattered!

To add insult to injury, I tripped falling up the stairs and bashed myself quite thoroughly, twisting my ankle a bit in the process.

Poorly Georgie
Georgie felt so poorly at the weekend she conked out on her Great-Grandma’s armchair and missed dinner – unheard of!

My day has been brightened considerably though, by two small but absolutely magical moments…

First up was Lydia crawling a good half metre across the rug (to steal a toy from her big sister!) – and she was properly up on her hands and knees! She has been wriggling about & sitting up & rolling around but no full on crawling before today; she kept getting stuck with one foot underneath her. My little baby girl was very proud of her achievement!

Secondly, Georgie came upstairs after eating dinner, to come and see me where I lay in bed feeling a bit grim, and declared:

“My Mummy is the best Mummy ever!”

I absolutely melted… how sweet is that!?!?

Her day hasn’t been too exciting… we played together a little, read a little, and spent quite a bit of time curled up watching tv or playing on the bed while Lydia napped. She didn’t get anything new or go anywhere exciting, we just snuggled and played and talked.

I have no idea where she got this phrase, but her coming in & saying that and giving me a huge hug just made me feel a bit emotional and cheered me up.

Two little magic moments in amongst the rubbish of my crappy day.

  2. Oh, those are two lovely moments. Sounds like we’ve been having a similar week, with illness, tiredness, a few home disasters etc., and it really does only take one or two moments like this to lift you. Hope you’re all on the up now x
