Valentines gifts for geeks

Home Deliciously Random Valentines gifts for geeks

Ad disclosure: this is a collaborative post with Panasonic.

We don’t make a massive deal out of Valentines Day in our house, and stick to exchanging cards and small gifts. Some people, I know, go all out though.

As James and I are both geeks, I thought it would be fun to put together a list of ideal geeky gifts to show your love in a different way than flowers & romantic meals. Instead, I’ve come up with a list of gifts that show you understand the person you are with, and what they enjoy most – and I’m including anything from silly geek gifts to some gorgeous tech like the Panasonic Wireless Speaker systems.

Small Budgets

Lego Star Wars 75072 ARC-170 Starfighter – This is actually one of the gifts I’ve got James this year. Don’t worry – I’ve told him not to read this post! James really enjoys the Star Wars series, and I thought this starfighter set would be a great little gift – and it is small enough to stay put together somewhere on display – probably on our living room shelves where we keep our games, blu rays and the odd bit of geeky memorabilia.

Dalek Bath Buddys – I have one of these and love it… There’s nothing quite like showering with a Dalek! A great fun yet practical gift for any Dr Who fan. I’m staying away from those Weeping Angels though… *shudder*

SoundPEATS Q800 – Universal Wireless Music Stereo Bluetooth Headset – I treated myself to a pair of these after Christmas and LOVE them. For bluetooth headphones on a budget they are a great option, and the neckband is perfect for keeping one earbud secure while I have just one in and half an ear listening out for the doorbell, etc. I use these for walking, and they are perfect for housework too!

Gifts for Geeks

Big Budgets

Panasonic Speakers – there are some great Hi Fi Speakers available from Panasonic at the moment. I’m really loving music and audiobooks at the moment, and love to listen to something as I do work or do chores around the house. There are a few rooms without speakers at the moment though – and the silence is deafening! I’d love to get an SC-ALL2EB for beside the bed.

Sphere BB-8 Droid – on the other end of the spectrum of Star Wars gifts is this remote control version of the loveable droid that completely stole the show in the new Star Wars film. I have to admit, he’s even replaced R2-D2 as my favourite droid. James would LOVE one of these. Who wouldn’t want their very own droid?

Apple Watch – I’m just putting this in here because I adore mine so much! James gave me an Apple Watch for my 30th birthday last year and apart from a few days of illness I have worn it every day. It has helped me disconnect more from my techy life & free me up to spend more quality time with the kids, as I can see at a glance what notifications are urgent and what can wait till later. The fitness side of it is great too, and really motivating.

As for us, we are off to watch Deadpool at the weekend, and then come home for takeaway and wine. My Mother in Law is treating us to a child-free evening & night, but after the week I’ve been having so far I think I’ll just want to go to bed early sleep for as long as possible, undisturbed! Have a great Valentine’s Day!
