…the not-so-tough just want to run away?!
This week has been one of the most difficult weeks I’ve had for a while, and I am so incredibly glad that it’s the weekend – hopefully James, Georgie & I can relax in our little Corkhill family bubble for a few days.
A mixture of things going wrong, bad news, difficult conversations and everyone in the family being ill in either one way or the other has just left me feeling both physically & emotionally exhausted. I have cried every day this week, how wussy am I?! I hate to be full of self-pity and guilty feelings but I am tonight!
Instead of continuing to dwell on the bad things though, I’m determined to try to concentrate on the good; so I want to share some of the positive things that are happening right now instead of the negatives! Here are a few things that have been making me smile…
- I treated myself to a new old Radley purse as my £3.50 George at Asda one was falling apart at the seams (every time I turned it upside down all the coins fell out!). I managed to find a steal second-hand on eBay so James was pleasantly surprised at my bargain hunting!
- Georgie has suddenly learnt how to climb the stairs – this is equally amusing, pride inducing, and terrifying! Before anyone panics, this discovery was made under strict supervision!
- I sent some little gifts to my closest friends via Parcelgenie (review coming soon!) for Valentine’s Day – without spending an awful lot I was able to make them smile and let them know that I was thinking of them 🙂
- Our new bed arrived on Valentine’s Day! Instead of going out for a “romantic” meal in a packed restaurant with a limited menu, my husband & I spent the evening building a bed! The best bit came at bedtime though – I persuaded James that a new bed warranted a new set of bedding so I put a new duvet cover, (spotty!!!) sheets & pillowcases on the bed and so we got that fresh sheets feeling combined with an insanely comfy new bed feeling – it was great.
- The dog woke up & promptly fell off the sofa yesterday. Also she can’t get on the new bed without jumping on a box, a concept she has been struggling with. This has been somewhat hilarious to witness. Lots of laughs courtesy of our dog with very little brain this week.
- I am really enjoying #febphotoaday – I love that it is stretching my creativity a bit, without needing too much time each day. Once it is over I will have to keep my eye out for similar challenges to get my teeth stuck into.
Hopefully everyone else has things to smile about this week!

I’m sorry you’ve had a crap week. I just wanted to say that I love reading your blog – keep up the good work! X
Thank you for your kind comment – it means a lot 🙂
